IDEX 2.0 is Z4’s production architecture where two print heads operate independently while staying synchronized: in Duplicate mode you print two identical parts at the same time, cutting cycle time nearly in half, and in Mirror mode you produce symmetric parts in a single run. The real difference shows up in the IDEX 2.0 Multi-Color workflow: while most systems pause and park for filament changes, Z4 keeps one head printing as the other prepares the next color. Combined with Zaxe Filament Manager, you can manage workflows up to 32 colors, reducing stop-and-go time and purge-related waste, delivering up to 2x gains in time and material efficiency depending on the job.
In many IDEX systems, aligning two print heads still requires manual steps and time-consuming adjustments. On Z4, the Independent Triple Z architecture and motor layout automate this process, taking the calibration burden off the user. The result: faster setup, a more stable first layer, and consistently repeatable prints every time.
